Background

The Teaching Practice Coordination Department (TPCD) at the Kenya Technical Teachers College (KTTC) plays a leading role in the training of Technical Teachers. It is a service department in the sense that it serves all the students pursuing technical teacher education programmes.

 

The main role of the (TPCD) is to place teacher trainees in Teaching Practice Institutions and ensure that they are supervised and assessed professionally and effectively.

“To produce Competent and Professional Technical Teachers”

Objectives

  • To ensure that all teacher trainees are placed in appropriate Teaching Practice Institutions.
  • To provide necessary information to teacher trainees that will enable them conduct themselves professionally during Teaching Practice.
  • To provide the teacher trainees with relevant documents and materials necessary for the exercise.
  • To facilitate adequate and effective assessment and supervision of the trainees while on Teaching Practice

MANAGEMENT

The TPCD management consists of:

TP ZONES

For effective supervision, the TP regions are divided into ten zones.  Each zone is coordinated by a zone coordinator who is assisted by a deputy zone coordinator. The zones and coordinators are as follows:
